Forms of Expression

DRAG was developed during the Game Design postgraduate program at George Brown College and is still in continuation. In this game, players create a Drag King or Queen and under the watch of specific Drag house parents- are able to compete with other players. Players are able to customize their character to their hearts content as the avatar creator is vast with its options in accessibility, skin tones, marks and more. Players are also able to design garments of their own to enter into competitions and can be shared with their friends.

UI Artist and Graphic Designer

UI Artist.

During the process of creating the game, a lot of graphics were needed. The graphics were created in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The initial planning for all the UI was created using Miro and where colour palettes and the types of menus were discussed. With three UI artists in total, the interactive design team led by myself had to make sure all of the art was consistent an can be easily read by players. Having concept the icons and UI early on and having one person create them to keep the style consistent is what I found worked best.

Graphic Design.

My main was to task while working on Drag was to create Graphics. As mentioned before I was tasked with creating the UI and this carried onto creating the logo and a lot of the graphics for the Instagram. I had the most graphic design experience in the team as I do a lot of freelance work for Twitch streamers and others thus having this role be handed to me. The programs I used included Illustrator, Photoshop and Canva for the Instagram. Through an app called UNUM, I was also able to plan what the Instagram would look like.

Market Analyst.

While doing a lot of the graphic design, I spent a lot of time on Instagram. As I use the app everyday and being the most extroverted of the bunch, I was tasked to reach out to influencers to ask them about our game and how we can improve it- accessibility, gameplay, and more general marketing questions like how much they would pay for the game and if they mobile games in general.
